Consult the Savoir-Faire: The Refractive Monolith
The Morrow & Stone Refractive Monolith is an exploration of depth and light.
Utilizing a one-inch (25mm) block of high-density, optical-grade acrylic, this commission creates a three-dimensional immersive environment for your imagery. Unlike standard frames, the Monolith internalizes ambient light, using its substantial mass to refract and amplify the detail of the subject from every angle.
Each block undergoes a rigorous Diamond-Polishing Protocol. This mechanical finishing results in mirror-clear edges that act as internal lenses, capturing light and reflecting the pigment internally to create brilliant depth and a 3D glass effect.
Whether commissioned as a single desk piece or a rhythmic series, the Monolith serves as a heavy, tactile reminder of the moments that define your history.
- One-Inch Optical Depth: A substantial 25mm profile that provides a structural lens for your imagery.
- Diamond-Polished Optics: Precision-machined edges for maximum light refraction and internal reflection.
- Molecular Face-Mount: Your image is thermally bonded to the rear surface, ensuring a permanent, airtight seal against environmental degradation.
- Your choice of full back-mounted print or transparent background
Please note: white areas in your artwork will not show on the transparent prisms.
Optical Configurations: Opaque vs. Transparent
The Refractive Monolith interacts dynamically with the light in your room. To ensure the “Modern Legacy” standard, we offer two distinct technical configurations based on your aesthetic intent:
- Full Back-Mounted (Opaque): This is the professional standard for high-chroma photography. The image is backed by an opaque layer, ensuring maximum color saturation and deep black levels. The result is a solid, authoritative artifact where the colors remain as vibrant as a Giclée print.
- Transparent Suspension (Refractive): Ideal for minimalist subjects, silhouettes, or architectural line work. In this mode, “white” areas of your photo remain crystal clear, allowing the image to appear “etched” within the glass. This configuration adopts the color and texture of the surface beneath it, creating an ethereal, glowing effect when placed near a light source.
